I recall a friend of mine describing how a contractor in Ontario quit his job after a Catholic church had hired him to do some work in their basement that involved digging... apparently he couldn't put his spade into the dirt of the basement without uncovering an infant skeleton. In that case, most of the skeletons appeared to have been the results of trysts between a priest or priests and the inhabitants of a nunnery that was conjoined to the church.
Nonetheless, such a discovery at the residential schools would, in my eyes, more correctly reflect upon the Catholic church than upon Western settlers in general.
Either way, the atrocities of the past are not rightly laid upon the shoulders of the current generation.

It took less than five minutes to get a grasp on the situation regarding the Sikhs. They've been agitating for a separate homeland for generations. Those were my thoughts as well. Wouldn't it make more sense to protest in an Asian neighborhood? They have countries they can be sent back to. Where do they expect the residents of the reservation to go?
