Here's our first expansion of the forum rules:

Thank you to Fluxmaster for drafting much of this list of rules.

Try keeping news excerpts to the first three paragraphs of the article.

The length of paragraphs can vary wildly depending on the news source. Some news sites make each sentence its own paragraph, whereas with other news sites three paragraphs would be nearly the entire article. Shouldn't we limit the length by the number of words or sentences rather than paragraphs?

The "sixty word limit" on Stormfront was rather arbitrary and not based on any legal regulation, if I recall correctly. Three paragraphs is generally a good way to get a picture of the story being presented.

All right, so consider this news article:

Switzerland Votes AGAINST Measure to Stop Mass Immigration by Capping Population — Globalist Bureaucrats Celebrate * The Gateway Pundit * by Ben Kew (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/06/switzerland-votes-against-measure-stop-mass-immigration-capping/)

QuoteSwiss voters narrowly rejected a proposal to cap the country's population at 10 million by 2050, according to preliminary referendum results released Sunday.

With votes counted in 25 of Switzerland's 26 cantons, roughly 54 percent opposed the measure, while 46 percent backed it.

The proposal, put forward by the right-wing Swiss People's Party (SVP), aimed to limit long-term population growth.

The Gateway Pundit style guide calls for each sentence to be its own paragraph. So if I'm posting an article by the Gateway Pundit, I should only be quoting the first three sentences?

Sure. Combined with the article title, it's enough for anyone to decide whether they want to click to read more.

Incidentally, those three sentences pass the 60 word mark anyway.
