Update 2:00 am, Sat. 13.  No change, alrhough one time yesterday I got the "Only available to registered members" notice.  When I logged in, the forum was the same as it was days ago.  The main page was accessible and a couple others, but clicking on posts or my User CP brought up the database error.  Just now the database error came up immediately.

If there's no change by Monday, I'm going to have serious doubts about the report that Don is working on this.  In the past when he's fixing a problem, there's noticable changes as he tinkers with it.  I've seen nothing like that so far.

I'm guessing that it's simply a trickier problem than he's faced previously.

Honestly I hope he just archives the VBulletin and installs Xenforo. VBulletin has been too clanky for too long.

Ruthless texted me pics today of her daughter in costume for the Nutcracker ballet but she didn't respond when I asked her again to please ask vikingcelt to join Jotunn's forum.

I am upset and think Ruthless lied to me to assuage me.  Stormfront has been down for 3 weeks now and there is no communication from Merlin, Don Black, or vikingcelt.

She didn't say "probably".

This is the exact wording of her text to me:

"Vikingcelt said Jotunn gave the sheriff the wrong address.  The wrong address was a vacant property.  The site admin spoke to Don last week.  He is doing fine but having technical issues.  He is hoping to have the site up soon".

I'm not inclined to think she was lying, though. It probably is just a really tricky issue Don is trying to solve.

Could it be the "tricky issue" is finding the money to pay the server bill?  That would be the the most logical reason for this long delay.  As I said earlier, I've seen no indication the tech issues are even being worked on. Today makes three weeks exactly SF has been down.

I'm thinking if funds ran out, there'd have been an announcement to that effect, and the website would be completely offline instead of constant database errors and the occasional loading page (I got the main page to load today).

I texted Merlin again, but he is working long hours and I don't want to harass him constantly. If Don is working on things, I expect we'll be back in action eventually.

That's bettter than I did.   Today I tried "stormfront.org" three times and "stormfront.org/forum" once.  The former went immediately to "database error"; the latter took about a minute or so.  Haven't got anything else for a couple days now.

I texted Merlin again, but he is working long hours and I don't want to harass him constantly.

This will never be a replacement Stormfront; I could never handle that kind of traffic on my budget, and this forum is fundamentally Canada-centric, in spite of what accommodations I have arranged in the Regional sections. A strange coincidence that Torba would make those radical changes to Gab just as SF went down.  Requiring people to register an account just to browse was a bad idea.  I made my account with a temp email that I didn't bother to save.  When I went to log in the next day, I found that Gab requires your email address everytime, unlike SF which only needs your username.  So now I'll have to make a new account if I want to access the site.

You know what?  Ain't gonna do it.  Screw 'em for doing that.  I'm tired of all this intrusive data harvesting.  Yeah, I could use guerrilla mail which is a permanent address, but I just don't feel like accomodating this BS.  Maybe if enough people resist, Torba will have to change it back.

I just accessed the front page, logged in, entered a subforum, but when I tried to enter a topic, I got the database thing.

Just tried to access SF.  Main page came up quickly, was able to log in, but still could not access my UserCP or any posts.  Then after a few minutes, everything locked up again and I got the 503 error screen.  When I tried stormfront.org again, same old database error appeared.

So I don't see any progress.
